The Community Planning Department consists of three divisions: Long Range Planning, Development Services and Building Safety. The responsibilities of the Department include implementing the community’s long term vision and goals contained in the city’s Comprehensive Plan; administering land use policy and law and construction codes adopted by City Council. The Department supports several boards and commissions including City Council, Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission and Hearing Examiner.
