Crimes Against Business

Fraudulent or Returned Checks

Check fraud creates a problem for everyone. The Kennewick Police Department and the local prosecuting agencies are attempting to hold people accountable for these crimes. The first actions in reducing these crimes and making them prosecutable begin with local business.

If your business has been the victim of a fraudulent or bad check, please complete the Fraudulent Check Form and submit it to the proper agency as indicated in the instructions.

If you turn in a form for a returned check, please do not accept payment for the check amount or fees without first calling the prosecuting agency who is handling the case.

Check Fraud Prevention

For more information and employee training resources to help prevent check fraud, please contact Mike Blatman in the Kennewick Crime Prevention Unit at 509-582-1351. You can also sign up to receive Kennewick Police Merchant Alerts at the same time.

Theft of Rented or Leased Property

Failure to complete payments on a leased or rent-to-own property without returning the property is a crime.  If your business has been a victim of this crime, please complete the Theft of Rented or Leased Property Form and submit it to the proper agency as indicated in the instructions.
