Pedestrian Crossing Safety (RRFB)

Project Description

Staff was successful in acquiring a Federal Grant through the 2020 City Safety Selections program for design and construction of a City-wide Pedestrian Crossing Improvements Project. The scope of work includes installing pedestrian crossing improvements including Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), pedestrian refuge islands, and pavement markings. Fifteen locations have been identified for improvements, which include nine (9) on Clearwater Ave., two (2) on Edison St., and four (4) on Olympia St. (See below map)

Total project cost is estimated at $860,000. The attached agreement is only for the Design Phase, which is estimated at $56,100 and will be performed by in-house staff.
