Youth Financial Assistance

Thank you for your interest in the City of Kennewick Recreation Financial Assistance Program!
The Recreation Financial Assistance program is provided by a grant through the Federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Block Grant program and allows eligible youth to participate in recreational programs and activities offered through Kennewick Recreation and Community Services (RCS). There is an application form that must be completed by the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) requesting funds and submitted in person by the parent or legal guardian to RCS, with qualifying documentation that includes:

  • Proof of residency in the City limits of Kennewick - this should be some type of utility bill (water bill, phone bill, PUD bill, etc.) showing your name going to your address.
  • A copy of last year's Income Tax Return, with W-2s.
  • Photo identification of the parent or legal guardian (driver's license, state ID card, etc.)

Financial Assistance Application:
Financial Assistance applications are available at the Parks & Recreation Department at the Southridge Sports & Events Complex, 2901 Southridge Blvd. or download here: Financial Assistance Form
Financial Assistance Form (Spanish)

1. Completed Financial Assistance applications must be returned to the Parks & Recreation Department by the parent or legal guardian of the children requesting funds. Photo identification for the parent or legal guardian is required. Southridge winter hours are 9:00am-9:00pm Monday-Saturday and noon-5:00pm on Sundays.
2. Eligibility for the Financial Assistance Program is determined by (1) City residency (you must live in the City limits of the City of Kennewick) and (2) annual gross income.
3. It is your responsibility to notify us if:

  • You relocate or move outside the City limits of the City of Kennewick.
  • Your total household income increases.

4. A new application is required, with all qualifying documentation, each calendar year.
  • To allow applicants time to receive and file their tax information the previous year's approved Financial Assistance application information will carry over for January and February of the new-year. As of March 1 of the new-year, a current approved Financial Assistance application must be on file.

Registering for Classes:
Once your Financial Assistance application has been approved, registration for programs may be done in person or over the phone. Co-pays must be paid at the time of registration. Co-pays must be paid with a Visa or MasterCard for over-the-phone registration. Another person, other than the parent or legal guardian, may register and sign for a child using Financial Assistance funding provided they have the parent or legal guardian's permission to do so.

Available Funds:
Funding is limited and is awarded on a first come, first served basis. The approval of a Financial Assistance application does not guarantee funds will be available at the time you wish to register for a program.
