Streets & Traffic

Streets
The Street Maintenance crews are responsible for a wide variety of activities that keep the City's streets safe, clean and functional in all kinds of weather. The Street crew repairs damaged asphalt and potholes. They also complete minor asphalt overlays and crack sealing in the summer months. Street sweeping is a year round task, except when snow and ice conditions exist. Street Maintenance is also responsible for the Inert Landfill and Street Waste Facility. During the snow season, Street crewmembers respond to snow and ice storms twenty-four hours a day to ensure that roadways are safe and passable. Storm Drain maintenance is performed to ensure that the system is operating properly during inclement weather to prevent flooding.

The Traffic Engineering and Operations section serves as the management arm of the Division.
